MOTIVATION MONDAY WITH SEAC(R) JOHN WAYNE TROXELL: Gaining the pulse of your organization!

Hey, folks, I’m SEAC(R) John Wayne Troxell here, and this is your Motivation Monday brought to you by Veterans Lending Group.

Hey, I’m going to talk to you about something that is truly essential for any leader, whether it’s in the military or business – and that’s called ‘Gaining The Pulse of your Organization. What that means is you want to get out and find out how your people are doing and how your organization is performing.

In the military, we call that battlefield circulation or simply leadership by wandering around. And certainly there are similar methods within business. What you do, is you have to arm yourself with spheres of information and spheres of influence that will help get you that pulse of your force. Spheres of information can be people, it can be a process, or it can be technology, and the information from these fears is reliable, it’s authentic, it’s got integrity, and if need be, it can be confidential.

Then you have spheres of influence. These are people or parts of the organization that have power to affect events or developments within the organization. Generally, people that are in the hierarchy or in some kind of leadership management role. These kind of spheres are informed, they’re trusted and they’re experienced in the area that they are leading or managing.

When you gain these spheres of influence and spheres of information, put them together combined with this and this, you’ll get a pretty good snapshot of what’s going on in your organization and how your organization is performing. So arm yourself with your spheres of influence and spheres of information and get out and wander around.

You’ll be amazed at what you find out about your organization and the people within.
